What is The Vault?

The Vault is Wargame Portal’s official secondhand store. Customers can submit eligible tabletop models in exchange for store credit on WargamePortal.com.


What do I receive in exchange for my models?

All payouts are issued as store credit only (Portal Pass Gift Card).

  • No cash payments

  • Store credit has no cash value

  • Store credit is non-transferable

  • Once issued, transactions are final


Do you publicly share your pricing formula?

No. We do not disclose our pricing structure publicly.
However, we provide a grading hierarchy so customers understand how value is determined.


How does model grading affect value? (Highest → Lowest)

  1. New in Box (NiB) — Factory sealed, unopened

  2. New on Sprue (NoS) with Instructions — Unassembled, includes booklet

  3. New on Sprue (NoS) — Unassembled, missing instructions

  4. Pre-Built, Complete, With Secondary Parts — Includes extra bits or sprues

  5. Pre-Built, Complete, Without Secondary Parts — No spare bits included

Models closer to factory-new condition receive the highest quotes.


Does paint quality increase value?

No.
There is no price premium for painted models, regardless of quality or artistic effort.


When will models be rejected?

Models may be rejected if they include:

  • 3D-printed, proxy, recast, or non-official parts

  • Extreme paint buildup or permanent paint that cannot be stripped

  • Structural damage or missing critical parts

  • Counterfeit products


Who can submit models?

By submitting models, you confirm:

  • You own the models

  • You have the legal right to sell them

  • The models are authentic and eligible

Misrepresentation may result in quote cancellation or account restrictions.


How do I request a quote?

To submit a Secondhand Quote:

  1. Head to the webstore and use the link on the Vault dropdown menu

  2. Requests without photos will not be processed


How long is my quote valid?

Quotes are valid for 30 days after issuance.

Once accepted, models must be shipped within 10 days, and a tracking number must be provided.


Who pays for shipping?

The customer is fully responsible for:

  • Shipping costs

  • Packaging

  • Insurance (strongly recommended)

Wargame Portal is not responsible for lost or damaged shipments.


Where do I ship my models?

Shipping instructions and address are provided after quote approval.
A Packing Slip must be included with your shipment.


How should I package models?

To protect value:

  • Separate models by unit/type

  • Wrap models in soft protective material

  • Ensure painted models do not touch

  • Fill all empty box space to prevent movement

  • Shake the box — no rattling should occur

Improper packaging may result in reduced payout or rejection.


What happens after you receive my models?

We will:

  1. Inspect models for accuracy and condition

  2. Compare them to your quote submission

  3. Adjust payout if needed based on:

    • Missing parts

    • Damage

    • Misrepresentation

    • Condition differences

  4. Provide customer with adjusted quote if required.


Can my final payout change from the original quote?

Yes.
If the final value differs by more than ±10%, we will contact you before issuing credit.


When do I get paid?

Store credit is issued after inspection and approval, attached directly to your customer account. 

Once issued:

  • Quotes cannot be revoked

  • Payments cannot be reversed


What if my models arrive damaged?

We are not responsible for shipping damage.
Damaged models may be:

  • Rejected

  • Returned at the sender’s expense

  • Reduced in value

We do not assist with carrier claims.


Can I send conversions or kitbashed models?

Conversions are reviewed case-by-case, but:

  • 3D-printed parts = automatic rejection

  • Proxy parts = automatic rejection

  • Missing official components may reduce or void value


Can I send professionally painted models?

Yes, but paint does not increase value.
If paint is too thick or permanent to strip, the model will be rejected.


Can I cancel or modify a quote after payment?

No.
Once store credit is issued, the transaction is final.


Can Wargame Portal refuse service?

Yes.
We reserve the right to:

  • Refuse service

  • Reject quotes

  • Ban accounts

  • Cancel transactions

  • Remove abusive or fraudulent submissions
